The 39 Steps

A Spy Comedy with Hitchcock overtones

The 39 Steps is based off of the 1935 Alfred Hitchcock-directed film of the same name. It is performed with a cast of four - with over 30 characters represented by these four actors. The cast includes Zach Awsumb (Elmwood) who plays the pretentious hero, Richard Hannay; Haley Graham (Maiden Rock) who plays the three women with whom Richard has romantic entanglements; and Derek Huebel (Spring Valley) and Abbey Graham (Maiden Rock), who play every other character in the show: villains, bystanders, a pilot, a professor, the professor’s wife, a radio announcer, a carnival barker, police officers, underwear salespeople, and many more.

Welcome to Spring Valley Theater!

Imagine. Create. Perform. Have fun with the Stagehands!! Spring Valley Community Theatre has been a vibrant theatrical force in the area for 29 years.

At an initial organizational meeting in December, 1984, the Spring Valley Stagehands were created and have thrived in a renovated movie house on the Main Street of town. Pooling the amazing talents from this community and all the surrounding area, the theatre group has produced hundreds of shows and concerts. Ranging from broad comedy to Broadway, with dashes of drama and pageantry, the Stagehands continue to present knockout productions year after year.

The group is open to any and all community members interested in giving theatre a try. Whether your interest is on-stage or off, there's room for you at the Spring Valley Theatre. Acting, singing, dancing, directing, stage design, construction, graphic arts, public relations, photography, makeup and hair, costuming - there's a spot for everyone.

With monthly member meetings (generally on the first Sunday of each month. 7 pm at the theatre), there's no reason why you can't stop in and find out what's going on now.
